Zach Johnson, the captain of the United States Ryder Cup team released his six captain’s picks today. The players selected were Brooks Koepka, Jordan Spieth, Colin Morikawa, Rickie Fowler, Justin Thomas and Sam Burns.
This brings the entire team together with a total of twelve. The first six players who qualified on points were Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Home and Xander Schauffele.
The one pick that seems to be the most questioned was Justin Thomas. He’s had an overall rough year especially in the major championships and missed qualifying for the FedEx Playoffs on the PGA Tour. Other players who were in the mix according to fans but did not get selected included Dustin Johnson, Keegan Bradley, Lucas Glover, and Bryson DeChambeau.
The Ryder Cup will take place September 25th through October 1st in Rome, Italy. The course being played is the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. The United States team won big in 2021 with final scoring being 19-9.
