Four Greens Vandalized Before Champions Tour Event; Grounds Crews Rally to Fix

Just a day before the the next PGA Champions Tour event was going to get underway, someone snuck onto the grounds of Timuquana Country Club in Jacksonville Florida and badly damaged the greens. The Champions Tour was set to get the annual Furyk and Friends event underway and awakened to a shocking level of damage to four greens on the golf course.

Luckily, the superintendent and grounds crew sprung to action to overcome the senseless vandalism to the course. They called in the PGA TOUR agrinomy team from down the road as well as MacCurrach Construction Company to assist with the repairs.

The video below is amazing and really walks through the repair and thought process to produce such an incredible result. The tournament gets underway today with a good field including favorites Steve Stricker, Stewart Cink, and Padraig Harrington.

Timuquana Country Club was established in 1923 and was designed by famed golf course architect Donald Ross. It is a private golf club that sits on the St. Johns River in Jacksonville Florida. Jacksonville is the home town of Jim Furyk. Past recent winners include Steve Stricker and Phil Mickelson. Destruction of golf greens seems to be a growing trend not only in the United States but all over.
