Lucas Glover’s Not So Secret Weapon

43-year old Lucas Glover was a four-time winner on the PGA Tour just two weeks ago. Spectacularly, he has won two weeks in a row and now has six lifetime victories and is in the discussion to be a part of the upcoming Ryder Cup Team.

What you may not know, is that before his back to back victories he was ranked 194th out of 198th in putting on the tour this year. Then he introduced the L.A.B. Mezz 1 Max broomstick long putter. With lot’s of practice getting used to the putter, he has certainly gotten comfortable using it and is having world-class results. Two weeks ago he won the Wyndham Championship and last week he won the first tournament in the year end lucrative FedEx Cup’s St. Jude Championship.

Glover’s honest discussion about the putter change

L.A.B. Golf came into existence back in 2018 acquiring the technology and company while also giving it a facelift. The initial success of the company could partially be attributed to surfer Kelly Slater. Slater was playing in a pro-am with Adam Scott and was draining putts all over the place for three days. Adam Scott took notice and was fitted for a L.A.B. putter back in 2019 and never looked back.

L.A.B. stands for Lie, Angle, and Balance. The company says that putters most people are using today are actually working against us. They say technology has moved along all the other clubs in the bag except the putter. It’s still a choice of blade or mallet with some sort of new insert. There is a lot that goes into the technology but their revealer helps best explain how their putters are different.

Needless to say, Lucas Glover’s success along with glowing praise from golf influencers on social media have supported ever-growing sales of L.A.B. putters. The company says Winston Churchill called golf “a game whose aim is to hit a very small ball into an even smaller hole, with weapons singularly ill-designed for the purpose.” Back in his day, Churchill had a point. L.A.B. Golf says that is no longer the case.
