TGL Pro Golf League Delayed Until 2025

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s tech golf league was supposed to get underway next month. However, those who are eager to see this new technology infused format played under a dome are going to have to wait another year. Earlier this month, a storm damaged the roof of the stadium being built in Palm Beach County at a local state college campus.

TGL issued a statement via X, formerly known as Twitter. When speaking to the damage, they said the roof collapsed due to a power failure and the failure of a back-up generator. After discussions with all their business partners, a decision was made to wait until 2025 to launch the league.

Reading through the comments on X, there seemed to be people looking forward to the league and just as many wondering if it ever would have been on time anyway. Comments also speculated on the future of the TGL league now that LIV Golf was under the same business umbrella as the PGA TOUR.

It would be hard not to acknowledge that that this pro golf league wouldn’t even be launching if it weren’t for the LIV Golf threat. It certainly felt rushed and reactive. One has to wonder if the business model will work from a viewership and profit standpoint. However, getting Tiger Woods in prime time television seems like a good move as his PGA TOUR schedule becomes more limited. I guess we will start finding out answers to all those comments and questions upon league launch in 2025.
